After brief stints with two collision repair companies, Stan Lenssen found he was frustrated by the poor quality repairs he was seeing. He was convinced he could do better and decided to set out and prove it. On January 19, 1971, the day of his twenty-first birthday, he opened the doors of Stan’s Auto Body in Bellingham, Washington.
As Stan's reputation for quality and service grew, so did his business; Stan’s Auto Body became a staple among Bellingham collision repair shops.
In 1973, Stan moved the business to its current location on State Street where he joined an array of businesses in historic Downtown Bellingham.
Over the years the exterior of Stan's Auto Body maintained the iconic feel of its early days but the inside became filled with state-of-the-art equipment that was used by experienced auto body technicians. The company continued putting out top quality repairs for a loyal customer base.
In 2011, after putting 42 years of blood, sweat and tears into his business Stan decided it was time to retire. It was extremely important to him that the new owner of Stan’s Auto Body was someone who shared his ideals and was a person he could trust to carry on his namesake with integrity. On July 25, 2011, after several months of discussion and negotiations he chose to sell it to Jeff Anderson.
Jeff has lived in Whatcom County since 1992 and knew Stan personally before taking over the business. Because of the trust he had in Stan it was an easy decision to purchase Stan’s Auto Body and continue the business Stan built. He and his wife Julie are raising five children in what they believe to be some of the most beautiful country anywhere in the world.
